Job Summary:

Brew Brew seeks outgoing, friendly, self-motivated, courteous and responsible Café Team Member. In addition, we look for an individual passionate about food and beverage preparation and education.  To succeed as a Café Team Member, you should be committed to providing customers with excellent service. You should be positive, friendly, knowledgeable and polite.

Responsibilities:

  • Promotes coffee consumption by educating customers; selling coffee and coffee grinding and brewing equipment, accessories, and supplies; preparing and serving a variety of coffee drinks, along with pastries, and our food menu.

  • Welcomes customers by determining their coffee interests and needs.

  • Providing customers with drink menus and answering their questions regarding ingredients.

  • Sells coffee and coffee grinding and brewing equipment by explaining differences in coffee beans and coffee preparation machines; demonstrating how brewing equipment operates.

  • Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee, tea and non-coffee drinks, such as: espresso, latte, cappuccino, cortado, matcha, horchatas, etc.

  • Generates revenues by attracting new customers; defining new and expanded services and products

  • Maintains inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies, pastries, food ingredients, retail items, paper goods, etc.

  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.

  • Preparing our food ingredients and prepare and serve food menu such as bagels, bagel & lox, tortas, breakfast sandwiches, bowls, parfaits and more. Ensuring food safety standards are met.

  • Developing barista skills and helping train new hires.

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading coffee, retail trade, and food service publications; maintaining personal networks.

  • Enhances coffee shop reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Education, Experience and Requirements:

  • Ability to walk, bend, stand and use of hands and arms for extended periods.

  • Must be able to lift up to 30lbs and frequently bend and twist from the waist.

  • Frequently required to use hand and finger motions, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms.

  • Must be able to adjust vision to both day and night lighting, and be able to focus on distant and close-range projects.

  • Regularly required to handle food, hot beverages, and work with sharp objects.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

  • Willingness to work as part of a high-energy efficient team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Availability to work around peak hours, including late afternoon, early mornings, weekends and holidays. Weekends availability required.

  • Be authorized to work in the United States.

  • Must have reliable transportation.

  • Basic math skills.

  • Must enjoy drinking coffee and tea drinks.

  • Experience in the specialty coffee, tea, retail, hospitality and/or customer service industry is a plus.

  • Spanish speaking is a plus.
